Cine Chit Chat RRR Movie Review Rating: 3/5

Maverick director SS Rajamouli, who took Indian cinema to new heights with Baahubali, is back with another magnum opus RRR. This time he has come up with an even bigger canvas and brought together two extremely popular south stars for his patriotic action entertainer shot with the highest budget in Indian cinema so far. We know you can’t wait.. because already you have waited for really long time. So we will directly leap into the magical world created by master craftsman of Indian cinema Rajamouli.

The story and backdrop of RRR:

RRR story is set in the pre-independent India in and around Delhi. Rama Raju (Ram Charan) wants to be a police officer. A daring and determined youth he achieves his goal by joining as police officer in British rule. On the other side, Bheem (NTR) is a Gond youth, who is known for his patriotic and fierce nature. While both hail from different backgrounds, become friends in no time and develop a good bond. But neither Rama Raju knows that Bheem is fighting against the British and nor Bheem knows that one day he has to fight against his close friend Rama Raju, who is an employee with the British.

While Rajamouli starts the movie with an interesting backdrop, soon the story takes multiple turns and pits Ram and Bheem against each other.

RC 15 surprise awaits for Charan fans

Why these two valiant friends turn foes? What turn will their lives take after that and how they willl teach a lesson to the British Army, which has been looting the Indian people with their draconian rule forms the essence of RRR.

Rajamouli sticks to basics:

Rajamouli takes almost all his movies stories from his father and senior writer Vijayendra Prasad. Even RRR story is penned by Vijayendra Prasad. It has all the ingredients to be a commercial entertainer like friendship, love, separation, patriotism, sentiment, anger, revenge and hope. Though at times the movie appears formulaic, Rajamouli has firmly stuck to basics to keep audience glued to the screens. Burra Sai Madhav has lived up to the expectations with soul stirring dialogues in many scenes.

NTR Vs Ram Charan: We bet they are the chosen ones:

NTR and Ram Charan who are two big stars in their own right have teamed up to breathe life into Rajamouli’s vision. In a stars-dominated and fans-driven movie industry, coming together of two stars of this range is set to create many expectations and also comparisons. But it’s no exclamation if one says that both have done their career best performances in RRR and in all honesty both of them excelled in their own way. Don’t know how Rajamouli has balanced the characters of NTR and Ram Charan in such a balanced way. RRR is a feast for fans of Charan and NTR. Either in dialogues or emotions, either in dances or fights, both the heroes will impress audience without an iota of doubt. Their performances will ensure that RRR gets repeat audience.

Extra scenes added for Valimai OTT release

Alia Bhatt as expected appeared in a limited role but important role. She is perfect in her role. Ajay Devgn appears as a mentor of Ram Raju. He is fine. Olivia Morris is decent in her role. She brings international feel to the movie. Shriya, Samuthirakani, Rahul Ramakrishna, Ray Stevenson and others appear in important supporting roles.

Kudos to Rajamouli and his technicians:

Almost all the technicians who worked for RRR are regulars in Rajamouli team. Rajamouli gave the responsibility of music to MM Keeravani. The music has already been hit and thanks to the experience and wide understanding of Keeravani, he ensures goosebumps in several scenes with his music.

Senior and extremely tallented Senthil is the Cinematographer. He is the same who has shot the magical Baahubali. He has excelled once again in RRR.

Nick Powell, who has worked for Hollywood movies has designed action scenes for RRR. The collaboration of Rajamouli and Nick Powell has brought in good action episodes.

It is extremely tough and one needs high levels of patience and attention to detail to recreate the backdrop for a movie like RRR. Art director Sabu Cyril deserves praise for doing this job with perfection.

Divya bharathi Maldives trip

The only problem with RRR is, one might find its runtime long. But keeping in view the large canvas of the story and the finesse with which film is made, audience may accept it. Producer DVV Danayya has done a commendable job to produce a magnum opus of this scale, sailing through the toughest COVID-19 crisis. He may finally get good night’s sleep this weekend.

Final verdict: It takes guts to conceptualize a movie like RRR. And even more passion and patience to breathe life into it. Rajamouli has done it in his own style. He has taken the art and biz of Indian film making to the next level. Become a part of his mesmerizing world. It is in the theatres near you.
