Kannada Super Star Puneeth Rajkumar ‘s last film James got released on his birthday today. The release of this high octane action entertainer is welling up tears in the eyes of millions of his fans and supporters with both joy and pain, as this is the last film of this promising star. He was in the prime of his career and enjoyed super stardom in Kannada film industry, when he breathed his last. James got released as a pan India movie by simultaneously releasing in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi languages.

Zooming into the story, Santosh ( Puneeth Rajkumar ) runs a security agency named J Wings. He takes up the responsibility of protecting the family of drug lord Vijay Gaikwad (Srikant). While Santosh is in the process of providing them security, drug lord’s sister Nisha (Priya Anand) gets a liking towards Santosh and expresses her love towards him. But Santosh springs up a big shock to both Nisha and audience, by revealing a bitter truth. Why Santosh took up the responsibility of saving drug lord’s family, what truth did he reveal to Nisha, who are Santosh’s enemies whom he want to take revenge on, form the main plot of James.

When it comes to story and screenplay, James is a typical commercial format story. But instead of going a out and out formulaic way, James movie tries to be a slick action entertainer. Therefore there is loads of action and Puneet Raj Kumar deserves praise for pulling off action episodes with aplomb. Puneeth has always know for his ease in action sequences and he took it to next level in James movie.

Apart from action, James also has love track between Puneeth Rajkumar and Priya Anand. There are also friendship and emotional angles in the second half. However action episodes stand out. Puneeth Rajkumar looked at his stylish best and his fans will be awed by the way he looked in the movie. Not just Puneeth Raj Kumar’s fans but even general audience will feel a sense of pain and disbelief as they sit through the movie, knowing well that this is the last time, they can watch a Appu’s film in movie halls.

Senior Telugu hero Srikant played the role of villain with impact in James. Anu Prabhakar, Sarat Kumar, Rangayana Raghu, Mukesh Rishi, Hareesh Peradi and others appear in supporting roles. Kannada star heroine Rachita Ram, upcoming heroine Sree Leela and Ashika Ranganath appear in the introduction song of hero.

Puneet Rajkumar ‘s real life brothers Shivaraj Kumar and Raghavendra Raj Kumar make special appearance in his last film. As Puneet could not dub for the movie due to untimely demise, his elder brother Shivaraj Kumar lent his voice.

Director Chethan Kumar has focused on turning James into a stylish action flick and succeeded in it. Stunts choreographer Ravi Varma need to be appreciated for the good job. Swamy J Gowda’s cinematography is sophisticated. Charan Raj has come up with good background score. Production values are rich.

Overall James can be seen as quintessential Puneet Rajkumar movie which showcases the star in his best avatar. Keeping in view the fact that this is the last film of Puneet Rajkumar , who was not just a big star but a great human being with big heart, one will only watch it for that ‘one last time.’
