Monica O My Darling Review: Gripping Comic Thriller

Monica O My Darling Review Rating : 2.75/5
Director Vasan Bala and screenwriter Yogesh Chandekar leave us a clue at the very beginning of the film that the movie is going to be a neo-noir comic thriller. The movie is a mix of wickedness and whimsicality that defines the film as a complete comic thriller. Monica, O My Darling is widely entertained and is a package of twists and turns till the final slide. The film is an adaption of the Japanese novel Burutasu No Shinzou written by Keigo Higashino.
When people are pounded with manipulators and manics, how a common man will take his flesh out from the situation is “Monica O My Darling”. The privileges of a board of directors are buried and stuck with the chairman’s son and daughter. This movie is packed with all the scruff to grab the sudden pushes to the neck of the audience and let us sit on the edge of our seats.
Monica, O My Darling starring Raj Kumar Rao, Huma Quereshi ( carries the title role) and Radhika Apte released on Netflix on 11th November 2022. This is a movie by Andhadhun’s director. But missed the slot and was nowhere close to the thrill of Andhadhun.
Jayant Arkhedkar (Rajkummar Rao), a robotics expert and an ambitious young man from a small town will be dating Nikki (Akansha Ranjan Kapoor), daughter of Satyaranayan Adhikar (Vijay Kenkre), CEO of Unicorn group. It is a very smooth road for Jayant to be one of the board members by gaining 4% shares in the Unicorn company with the support of Nikki and Satyanarayan. Monica Machado(Huma Quereshi) is the company’s secretary. Monica blackmails Jayant, Nishikant(son of Satyanarayan) and also the company’s account team member Arvind(Bagavathi Perumal). When all three together plan Monica’s murder and instead land in a conspiracy of Nishikant murder. ACP Naidu (Radhika Apte) then takes the lead in the story. Making them convict with eye contact and with her wickedness. She was extremely well in her role.
Finally, Ram Charan opens up about Acharya’s failure
The most surprising element in the film is that murderers write an agreement and as part of collecting it in the end, Jayant ends up on a suspense note. After all, Karma hits back. Performances are top-notch. Rajkummar Rao leads the story along with Radhika Apte. His quicker timing and expressive eyes are very impressive. Radhika was in limited scenes but with her performance, she took the lead. Nishikant’s role was just a cameo.
Overall a little grippy direction might have helped the film all time. Monica, O My Darling ends up as a neo-comic thriller.
