Lengthy run times for Sankranti films

Run time is one of the key factors for a film’s success. A director needs to keep the audience invested throughout the film with his narration. Otherwise, they will reject the film outright if directors test their patience. But, all Sankranti biggies are banking on heavy run time to impress the moviegoers.
It is a known fact that Waltair Veerayya, Veera Simha Reddy, Kalyanam Kamaneeyam, Varisu and Thunivu are set for a grand release during the Sankranti festival. The censor formalities of all these films have been completed ahead of their release this week. Varisu and Veera Simha Reddy have a lengthy run time of all these 5 films. They will have a run time of nearly 3 hours including all commercials. To be precise, these movies are 2 hours and 50 minutes long.
Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya has 160 minute run time which is also heavy considering the recent trend as many directors are trying their best to have crisp run time. Ajith’s Thunivu is the crispiest film of all these biggies with 2 hours and 25 minutes. Small budget film Kalyanam Kamaneeyam lasts around 110 minutes which is very one of the short-lived run times in recent times.
While Varisu and Kalyanam Kamaneeyam secured U certificates, all other Sankranti films got U/A certificates from the censor board.
