Varasudu is already a wash out even before release

Ace Tollywood producer Dil Raju’s awful planning is likely to cost him very big. His decision to release the Telugu version of Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu three days after the Tamil version has resulted in poor bookings in the Telugu States. As the Tamil version secured below-par reports after its release on January 11th, there is hardly any buzz on the Telugu version which is set for release this 14th. Both Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy received an average response from all quarters. But, the mass elements are enough for the films to dominate the box office during the festival season. So, there won’t be much chance for Varasudu to perform at the Tollywood box office.
Varasudu failed to draw the attention of moviegoers because of a lack of excitement from its trailer and other promotional content. The trailer dropped enough hints that Varasudu is going to be a rehash of so many Telugu films. Moreover, Dil Raju’s greedy tactics to reserve more theatres for Varasudu created a lot of negativity about the film among Telugu moviegoers. Vijay didn’t even promote the film here and it might impact the collections further.
As per trade estimates, Varasudu is likely to open way lesser than Vijay’s last outing Beast in Telugu States. If the bookings don’t improve, there is a chance that the film might be replaced on the second day itself. It might not even recover the expenses and publicity costs if the same trend continues on the second day.
Known for his prudent choice of films, Dil Raju has got everything wrong concerning Varasudu. His idea to work with a Tamil hero and cash in on the Telugu market during the Sankranti festival when two direct Telugu films are releasing backfired badly.
