USA box office: Chiranjeevi’s outright domination in Sankranti battle

Just in two days, Megastar Chiranjeevi proved why he is the numero uno at the box office among the senior actors. His Sankranti outing Waltair Veerayya overcame the mixed reviews and emerged as the winner at USA box office by a huge margin. After embarking on a terrific start with $ 680K from premiere shows, Waltair Veerayya is unstoppable in the first weekend.

With a sensational haul of $ 350K ( more to be added) on its first Saturday, Waltair Veerayya surpassed the $ 1.35 Million mark in just two days including premieres. The film notched up close to $ 300K on Friday. By the end of Sunday, it is expected to rake in above $ 1.6 Million. This is the fourth film in Chiru’s career after Khadi no 150, SyeRaa and God Father to breach the million dollar mark. There are good chances for Waltair Veerayya to emerge as the highest-grossing film of Chiranjeevi by the end of its full run.

Another Sankranti release, Veera Simha Reddy is unable to give competition to Waltair Veerayya. After a big start with $ 700K premieres, the collections plummeted from the first day as the word of mouth and talk are not-so-encouraging. The film collected a total gross $ 930k after Saturday’s $75K and it is likely to end up around $ 1M in its full run.

Tamil biggie Varisu is having an average run with moderate collections. The film collected around $ 190K on Saturday to take the total past $ 725K. Telugu version Varasudu collected $ 25K on its first day including premieres.
