Tamil superstar Thala Ajith is also competing at the box office this Pongal with his upcoming slick thriller Thunivu which is dubbed in Telugu as Thegimpu. The Telugu trailer arrived this Monday two days after the Tamil version was out and it promises a money-heist thriller with shades of Thalapathy’s previous film Beast.
The two-minute trailer gives a glimpse of what is in store for moviegoers with this film. It is all about a bank robbery in which Ajith takes all customers and employees of the bank hostage and demands money to leave them unscathed. Going by his mannerisms, Ajith seemingly appears to be a bad guy. But, there would be some other reason behind his malicious intent and it is not revealed in this trailer. What follows Ajith’s action is the reaction of police and politicians which sets the tone for more drama in this thriller.
Ajith looks ultra stylish in his salt-and-pepper look. He oozes swag in every scene and his menacing smile is hard to miss. He blazes the gun without mercy and takes a motorboat to escape from the police. The trailer, which is fully packed with action episodes, is a one-man show of Ajith. Some scenes reek of similarities in Vijay’s Beast in which robbers take a shopping mall hostage.
Directed by HS Vinoth, Thegimpu has Samutrakani, Manju Warrier and Ajay in significant roles. Ghibran delivers a gripping score and the cinematography by Nirav Shah is splendid.
