Talented actress Shruti Haasan wanted to make a strong comeback in Tollywood after a brief hiatus. She shared screen space with Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna in Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy respectively. Both these films released for Sankranti and secured mixed reports. However, the festive season is helping both films as they collected good revenues in the first weekend despite underwhelming reviews.
Unfortunately, there is hardly any appreciation for Shruti Haasan’s performances in these films. Though she matched the grace of Chiru and Balayya in songs with her energetic dances, she didn’t get substantial roles that would elevate her acting mettle. In both films, she couldn’t get deserving roles and was confined to glamour show in songs. Critics opined that she got a raw deal in both films as there is no weight for her characters. She was also way from promotions and didn’t talk about the films anywhere.
She is next going to be seen in pan-India film Salaar which stars Prabhas in the lead role. The Prasanth Neel directional is slated for release in the second half of this year. She is hoping for a change of her fortunes with Salaar.
