Shaakuntalam Trailer : After years of hiatus, filmmaker Gunasekhar is coming up with ‘Shaakuntalam’, starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the title role. The film’s trailer was released today at the event and it’s quite appalling to see such one in these times.
Gunasekhar is known for his adamant- high budgeting – time taking making style of films. After ‘Nippu’, he decided to produce his own films and made ‘Rudramadevi’ with Anushka Shetty, which turned out to be a huge disaster. Even tax exemptions couldn’t save the film financially. His next was supposed to be ‘Hiranya Kashyapa’ with Rana but citing delays in pre-production he decided to make ‘Shaakuntalam’ with Samantha.

The trailer is poor in almost every aspect. Right from narration to the graphics and performances, everything looks & feels sloppy & snobby. Even the presence of great actors like Krishnam Raju & Mohan Babu seems to be wasted with the pointless placing. After witnessing ‘RRR’, Gunasekar should understand that audiences are absorbing & preferring quality content and he can’t just get away with mere media animations.
This shall be a test of luck for Samantha. Although her ‘Yashoda’ successfully turned out to be a decent project, ‘Shaakuntalam’ might drop her down.
