Rare Coincidence: After Simran, it is Shruthi Hassan

Casting a suitable heroine for senior star heroes is a difficult task for filmmakers. In Tollywood, there has always been a dearth of heroines who could be perfect on-screen partners for aged male stars. Two decades ago, actress Simran filled that void to some extent because her on-screen pairing with top stars like Chiru, NBK, and Venky at that time was near-perfect. Simran’s statuesque appearance made her a perfect find for top stars. She appeared in numerous blockbuster hits of Tollywood in those days.

In 2001, Simran shared the screen with Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi in Narasimha Naidu and Mrugaraju respectively. Both these films locked horns at the box office during the Sankranti festival. It was a rare thing for a heroine to have two releases at a time during the festival season. Simran’s performance in both these films was well appreciated by moviegoers. Narasimha Naidu emerged as the Sankranti winner that year.

Now, two decades later, it is going to be Shruthi Hassan’s turn to entertain moviegoers with two films at a time during the Sankranti festival. She is the leading lady in both Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy which are gearing up for release during Sankranti. She shared the screen with both Chiru and Balakrishna for the first time. Both films are mass entertainers and she played glamourous roles in them. She is eyeing a massive comeback in Tollywood and the Sankranti clash will be a defining moment in her career.
