Rajamouli wins over Puneeth Rajkumar fans

Baahubali director SS Rajamouli announced the new release date of magnum opus RRR as March 25. Though initially RRR team was in favour of March 18, they shifted it further as mark of respect to late Kannada star Puneet Raj Kumar. Puneeth’s last film James is all for release on March 17. This is the last film he acted before his sudden and untimely death in October.
Puneeth was a big star in Karnataka and his movies were released on a massive scale. As this is his last film, the release will be even bigger and grander affair as Puneeth’s supporters and fans will throng to theatres in big numbers. Therefore Rajamouli has decided not to clash with Puneeth’s film. RRR makers have thought that postponing the movie will not just serve as a tribute to Puneeth Rajkumar, who rules hearts of millions, but will also ensure a clash free release for RRR which requires a large number of theatres.
Normally almost all big Telugu movies are released in Karnataka in large number of theatres. Telugu stars are well known for Kannada movie lovers. Telugu movies are such a hit in this region that, Baahubali 2 collected about Rs 15 Cr on first day. Besides RRR is releasing directly in Kannada. So Rajamouli and team decided to move their release further by a week, to avoid friction with Puneeth’s film.
