NTR expresses displeasure on dropping grandfather’s name

Actor and grandson of Tollywood actor Sr. NTR, fondly referred to as Jr. NTR, seems to be irked with the decision of the ruling government in Andhra Pradesh to change the name of NTR Health University after YS Rajasekhar Reddy, former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and father of current chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

As soon as the decision to change the name was announced, widespread outrage and protests started in the Telugu States from all quarters. Many dignitaries from the political spectrum expressed their displeasure on this decision and NTR too put out his exasperation through a Twitter post.

‘Indian 2’ gives one more chance to two forgotten heroines

NTR took to Twitter to subtly condemn the decision. He said both NTR and YSR are legends who won immense popularity among the masses. Replacing one’s name with another does neither bring any credit to YSR nor dishonours NTR. He added that NTR’s popularity and aura are indelible in the hearts of Telugu people forever.

NTR has been staying away from politics after the 2009 elections. Recently, he drew the attention of national media and people across the country when Amit Shah invited him for a special dinner in Hyderabad to appreciate his performance in RRR. Now, his reaction to Jagan’s decision to rename the name of the health University is bound to create ripples in political circles.
