Amazon Prime Video and Netflix are the top two streaming platforms in the Telugu entertainment space. Both the OTTs are always competing with one another in grabbing the digital rights of movies. So far, Prime Video has displayed an upper hand over Netflix by grabbing all major, big-budget and crazy projects. However, now, Netflix began showing its domination.
Netflix is back in the game of OTT in the regional markets. Netflix is inactive for quite some time when it comes to regional cinema. But now, the streaming giant actively started closing deals with Tollywood producers. After Bollywood, the maximum business takes place in Tollywood, and Netflix understood the strategy.
On the occasion of Sankranthi, Netflix announced their upcoming slate in which there are close to 17 films that will have a post-theatrical release on the platform.
Sandeep Kishan’s Buddy, Kalyanram’s Amigos, Kappela remake, Butta Bomma, Nani’s Dasara, Raviteja’s Dhamaka, Karthikeya’s next, Vaishnav Tej’s next, Naga Shourya’s next, Anushka’s next, Kiran Abbavaram’s Meter and Tillu Square, are acquired by them. Apart from these films, the platform also has Virupaksha, 18 Pages, SSMB28, Bhola Shankar, and a couple of projects that are in production mode.
