Mythri and Dil Raju make tall claims with fake numbers

Sankranti 2023 witnessed the clash of four big-ticket films at the Tollywood box office. Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy managed to collect solid numbers in the Telugu States taking advantage of the festive season despite their weak content and poor execution. While Ajith’s Thegimpu failed to make an impact, Vijay’s Varasudu secured good numbers due to overflows from those two Telugu films.

Unfortunately, the trend of projecting fake numbers is back. Mythri Movie Makers, the production house behind Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy, succumbed to the pressure from both factions of Mega and Nandamuri families and released posters with fake numbers. They claimed that both films surpassed the 100 Crores mark by the end of the Weekend. They released posters claiming that Waltair Veerayya collected 108 Crores in 3 days and Veera Simha Reddy collected 104 Crores in 4.

Meanwhile, Dil Raju also released a poster that claims Varisu collected more than 150 Crores worldwide. The occupancies for all these three films are good enough on festival days but they didn’t collect anywhere closer to the numbers projected by the production houses. Moreover, these films are yet to break even and still need to gross more than 40 percent of their investment. But, they have already claimed these films are box office hits.

While Waltair Veerayya has a good chance to emerge as a profit-making venture in its full run, Veera Simha Reddy is likely to incur losses in most of the territories. Varisu is also likely to be a loss venture for Dil Raju.
