When a dashing filmmaker and an audacious actor come together for the first time, expectations are surely going to be on the higher side. This is the reason why there is strong hype on Vijay Devarakonda starrer ‘ Liger ‘ from the day it went on floors. After the theatrical trailer and the solid promotions, the craze shot through the roof. The film is releasing today all over with solid bookings in all territories. The first premiers in the USA are already completed and the web reviews are out.
Going by the initial reports after premiers, Puri Jagannadh has disappointed the audiences big time with Liger. The stammering problem of the hero seems to be a major letdown for the hero’s characterisation. Strong characters with trenchant dialogues and elevation scenes for the lead protagonist are usually expected from Puri Jagannadh’s films. But these trademark elements are missing in Liger.
Box Office Trends : Liger set for a tremendous opening
Also, Puri failed to utilise Vijay Devarakonda’s potential to a full extent. Vijay’s physical transformation is the only takeaway for his character as there is nothing else worthy to mention. Other crucial characters like Ananya Pandey and Mike Tyson are not justified in the story and add to the disappointment.
The first half with a couple of elevation scenes and a few impactful dialogues are the only positives. What was supposed to be a decent watch turned out to be an awful experience for the moviegoers because of the senseless second half. It is a collective failure in all departments for Liger as none of the technical aspects elevated the film. Vijay does his best but couldn’t save this rudderless drama.
Liger is just another lacklustre attempt by Puri Jagannadh taking the audience for granted after tasting a decent success with iSmart Shankar.
