Legendary Malayalam actress KPAC Lalitha passed away in Kochi. She has acted in more than 550 films in a career spanning longer than five decades. The 74-year-old actress was not keeping well for the past few days and she breathed her last on Tuesday night. She has started her acting career initially by performing for theatre and later went on to become one of the best actors in Malayalam film industry. In her beginning days, she has joined Kerala People Arts Club (KPAC) and performed on theatre. Later she entered movies and succeeded on silver screen. She has won National Award twice for her performances and acted along with almost all the popular actors of Malayalam cinema, in decades long career.
KPAC Lalitha was married to Malayalam film maker late Bharatan. Her son Siddarth is also a film maker and actor. KPAC Lalita was serving as Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Academy chairman when she breathed her last.
KPAC Lalitha is a household name in Kerala and she has a special place in Malayalam film lovers hearts. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, former CM of Kerala Oomen Chandy, Malayalam stars Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithvi Raj, Dulquer Salman, Keerthy Suresh, Faahad Faasil and others paid tributes to KPAC Lalitha. Her last rites are being performed with full state honours.
