Diwali B.O : Tamil heroes look to capitalise on low-key Telugu films

Four notable films are releasing this Friday. Two of these films feature popular Tamil heroes – Karthi and Sivakarthikeya. They are looking to capitalise on the open ground at the Tollywood box office as no Telugu biggie is slated for release during the Diwali festival weekend.

Karthi’s homegrown spy thriller Sardar is making good waves in Tollywood after the intriguing trailer struck a chord with moviegoers. Karthi plays a dual role in this action entertainer which features Rashi Khanna and Rajisha Vijayan as female leads. Karthi’s previous films got decent openings in the Telugu States. Trade circles are expecting a good start for this P.S. Mithran directional.

Another Tamil hero who is in the fray is Sivakarthikeya. His film Prince, helmed by Telugu director KV Anudeep of Jaathi Ratnalu fame, is generating impressive buzz with its entertaining teasers and trailers. Sivakarthikeya plays a teacher in this comedy caper which has its music scored by SS Thaman.

Venkatesh waiting for top production houses

Both these Tamil films will face some decent competition from talented and eccentric Telugu actor Vishwak Sen’s romedy Ori Devuda which is an official remake of Oh My Kadhavule. The fun-filled trailers of this Ashwath Marimuthu directional have created a noticeable hype in audiences. The presence of Victory Venkatesh in a narrative-changing role is another advantage of this film.

Manchu Vishnu’s comic thriller Ginna is also looking to make the most of the Diwali holiday. Vishnu is trying his best to generate buzz on this film but it is unable to draw the attention of audiences so far. The presence of Payal Rajput and Sunny Leone in glamourous roles will create some hype in young audiences. Written by Nageswara Reddy, Ginna is directed by Suryaah.
