National Crush Rashmika Mandanna triggers another controversy

‘National Crush’ Rashmika Mandanna seems to have developed a habit to put foot in her mouth by making controversial statements. Not long ago she was trolled and mocked by Kannada fans for her statements on Rishab Shetty’s Kantara. Now, she is likely to face the ire of Telugu and Tamil fans as well for her half-knowledge.
In an attempt to woo Bollywood filmmakers and North audiences, the Pushpa actress said romantic songs in Bollywood are a thing. She labelled songs in South as ‘Masala and Item songs’ and said romantic songs mean Bollywood to her as she grew up watching them. She made these comments while promoting her upcoming Hindi film Mission Manju which stars Siddharth Malhotra. Referring to a song in this film, she said that this is her romantic song in Bollywood and said everyone will love it.
It is fine to promote her Bollywood film, but it is foolish to confine South songs to a particular genre. Rashmika seems to have forgotten the fact that she appeared in numerous romantic numbers in her South films which went on to become chartbusters. She also should remember there are many timeless classical romantic songs in Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films.
