Prabhas starrer Chatrapathi, directed by SS Rajamouli, is now being remade in Hindi by director VV Vinayak. Tollywood actor Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas is reprising Prabhas’ role in this remake film which went on floors in 2021. In the making for nearly 18 months, the film’s shoot has been wrapped up a few weeks back. But, there is no update on the release date and other details.
CineChitChat exclusively heard that the Hindi version of Chatrapathi might not see the light of day. As per a close source, the makers of the Hindi version decided to not go for the theatrical release as there is no buzz on the film at all. As the Telugu version emerged as a blockbuster, the production house initially felt that the Hindi remake will gain traction with moviegoers in North India. But, their calculations went wrong as the Hindi version didn’t evoke even a little buzz among audiences.
If they want to release the film, they need to spend some additional money on promotions. It is believed they are not willing to waste money to promote the film and burn the pockets further. Hence, they have decided to skip a theatrical release. It remains to be seen if they will go for an OTT release sometime later.
