Macherla Niyojakavargam Movie Review : 1.5/5

Handsome actor Nithiin, post Bheeshma has not been able to find right script to deliver a hit on OTT or in theatres. His Check, Rang De, Maestro did not click with audiences as much as anticipated. He has decided to make a transformation to mass hero and gave a chance to debutant director, MS Rajasekhar Reddy with Macherla Niyojakavargam. Let’s discuss how the film has shaped up.

Macherla Niyojakavargam film tells the story of Rajappa (Samuthirakani) a dreadful gangster, who ruthlessly has been ruling Macherla region or constituency like a dictator. He has been MLA of the area without an election for the past 30 years. Due to his attrocities and the ghastly society that doesn’t Rebel against him, Swathi (Kirti Shetty) leaves the place after a personal tragedy.

She travels to Vizag with a hidden motto. Siddharth Reddy (Nithiin), a civil exam topper falls head over heels seeing her for the first time. Seeing this as an opportunity Swathi uses Siddhu for her hidden agenda. As she returns to Macherla, Veera (Son of Rajappa) attacks her and tries to kill her. That’s when a newly appointed collector Siddharth Reddy (Nithiin) comes to change the standpoint of the people and goes against Rajappa to plan a peaceful election after 30 years. Can he achieve this motto? What happens to their love story? Siddhu has a secret admirer (Catherine Tresa), what happens to her after knowing Siddh’s motive behind his disappearance from her life? Watch the film to know more…

Movie making needs to have some credibility and directors should be chosen after some kind of competence tests. We have to make this statement because it is okay to have someone with extreme creativity coming out and delivering good hit even in Routine template. But this film proves that producers need to choose directors after some kind of competence test. Nothing in this film has any creativity behind it. One can fail to make a good hit but never should fail in making a decent attempt. This film’s concept and writing are so bad and silly that you cannot even debate about some good intentions behind making this film.

Every scene feels like we have seen them somewhere. Every moment is predictable and even the point itself feels like a film made by some 1950’s filmmaker looking to be “modern”. Very rarely, we see elections in a constituency being doninated by one person so much that others don’t even stand against them. Such kind of elections would have been challenged in courts if not by that constitutency people, definitely by any political party. See the concept itself doesn’t convince us and similarly, even if we think about leaving the logic behind and give suspension of disbelief, a chance, the director keeps irritating with unnecessary punch dialogues and after a point they turn into unintentional comedy.

Nithiin has a good screen presence and he has been improving. But he needs to deliver even better scripts and performances to become the star that he aspires to be. For this film, he delivered apt performance. Kriti Shetty has over acted and even trustworthy Samuthirakani failed. Cinematography, Editing, Production Design and every craft in this film failed as the captain of the ship did not know how to navigate them through deep and shallow waters. On the whole, avoid this film at any cost.
