RR actor NTR made his first public appearance after a while in the pre-release event of his brother Kalyan Ram’s upcoming film Bimbisara held in Hyderabad. Fans eagerly waited for his speech and expected him to talk about his upcoming projects. But, NTR disappointed them because he spoke at length about Bimbisara and didn’t reveal anything about his movies.
One more thing that everyone in industry circles expected NTR to speak during the event is about the ongoing crisis in Tollywood following the lean phase at the box office. There has been a lot of discussion within and outside the film industry about the cost-cutting measures to be undertaken for safeguarding the producers. It is well known that after the pandemic-induced lockdowns, the footfalls have plummeted drastically barring a few big-ticket films.
Producers and buyers are reeling under losses due to outright rejection from the audiences. Recently, the producers guild of Tollywood announced to halt the shootings from August 1st. Amidst this crisis, there has been a lot of clamour from all quarters regarding the extortionate remunerations that are being charged by the top league actors in Tollywood.
While there is a lot of talk going on regarding the remunerations of star heroes, NTR through his speech seems to have dropped enough hints that he is not in any sort of plan to cut down his paycheck after RRR. In his speech, NTR said that there is nothing like a lean phase but only due to a lack of good films, audiences aren’t embracing the theatres. So, all it needs is a good film with strong content to draw the attention of the audience, opined NTR in his speech.
So, is NTR hinting that there is no need to implement any cost-cutting measures and also no need to slash remunerations? Is he suggesting producers and directors to come up with good content oriented film? Only time will answer the questions..
