Weekend BO : The Warrior crashes in overseas, below-par at domestic

Trade circles expected Energetic Star Ram Pothineni to end the recent Dull at the box office following successive flops in the last four weeks with his latest offering The Warrior, a bilingual cop drama helmed by Tamil director Linguswamy. But, the iSmart Shankar actor couldn’t take advantage of the solo release at the box office as The Warrior failed to register impressive collections in the just concluded first weekend.

The Warrior started its domestic run with a decent 8.2 Crore share on its opening day and managed to collect only below-par numbers thereafter to end the first weekend on a lukewarm note. Due to heavy rains across the Telugu States and low reviews, the film managed to collect less than 3 Crores on Friday and Saturday. To be precise, it collected 2.6 Crores and 2.8 Crores respectively. On Sunday, there is a slight uptick in the numbers, but still, it is not sufficient to end the weekend on an average note, at least, if not solid. The numbers are dismal in Tamilnadu and other neighbouring States.

Fake News: No Film Studio from the Dil Raju family

In overseas, The Warrior is an out disaster with a first weekend gross of $ 100K. The makers toyed with the idea of screening premiers in overseas and decided to start the shows on par with the timings in India. This has hardly made any difference in the outcome of the talk in the audience.

The formulaic narration and flat screen turned out to be the reasons for the film’s rejection. Ram’s energetic performance couldn’t save the film because of its weak plot.
