USA pre sales : Veera Simha Reddy in top gear in Sankranti battle

There is no doubt this Sankranthi is going to be a massive one for Tollywood. Arch-rivals Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna are involved in a head-on clash at the box office with their upcoming films Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. The buzz surrounding both these films is quite phenomenal in trade circles.
While the domestic bookings are yet to open, the pre-sales in overseas are in top gear with outright domination by Veera Simha Reddy. One week before the premiere shows, the pre-sales of the Gopichand Malineni directional are at a touching distance of the $ 200K mark. Waltair Veerayya is nearing the $ 150K mark. This is a very good trend for both these biggies and the original walk-ins for the premiere shows and the first weekend might be much bigger than expected.
Trade pundits predict that both films will register better openings than the previous films of Chiru and Balayya. It is quite surprising that Balakrishna is racing ahead in this competition in USA where Chiru commands a bigger market than him. An interesting tussle ahead, it remains to be seen who will emerge as Sankranthi winner this time.
Meanwhile, Tamil biggies Varisu and Thunivu are also trending well in USA. The day 1 pre-sales of Varisu surpassed the $ 100K mark. Thunivu grossed $ 70K so far. Both films are slated for release on January 11th.
