Megastar Chiranjeevi has once again demonstrated his box office clout with his latest offering Waltair Veerayya. While the domestic openings are quite sensational, the overseas numbers are nothing short of spectacular.
In USA, Waltair Veerayya embarked on a phenomenal start with $ 680K from its Thursday premieres. Though this is less than the opening of Chiru’s previous film Acharya, it is considered a terrific start because of the heavy competition from other Sankranti films. Gaining upper hand over all other films, the film collected a superb $ 260K on Friday to take the total past $ 900K ( to be precise $ 942K). The Bobby directional is on track for an outstanding weekend and emerges as Sankranti winner in overseas. As the reviews are decent, Waltair Veerayya is set for a strong show at the box office during the festive season.
Meanwhile, Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy is struggling after a huge start due to poor reviews. The film, which took a great start with $ 708K on Wednesday premieres, added only $ 71K from Thursday. On Friday, the walk-ins are very lesser than expected and the total gross is now around $ 840K. It might lumber toward the million-dollar mark by the end of the Weekend.
Tamil films Varisu and Thunivu are having a moderate run in USA after taking a good start on January 10th. Both films have surpassed the half-a-million dollar mark by the end of Friday.
