In USA, Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya took a huge opening. Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy plunged on its first day after taking a terrific start with solid premieres. Tamil biggies Varisu and Thunivu and chugging at a slow phase after an ordinary start.
Waltair Veerayya couldn’t surpass the premiere day numbers of Veera Simha Reddy but registered a solid gross. It collected $ 680K from 316 locations from Thursday premieres. This is the 18th biggest opening for a Telugu film in USA but less than the opening of Chiranjeevi’s previous film Acharya. Veera Simha Reddy notched up $ 708K from Wednesday premieres. As it managed to garner decent talk, Waltair Veerayya is likely to have strong run in the first weekend.
Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy saw a huge plunge in the first-day numbers after a sensational start. The film collected a meagre $ 39K on Thursday which is nearly a 95 percent drop in the collections from premieres day. Due to poor reviews and below par word of mouth, the collections took a huge beating as there are mass cancellation tickets.
Ajith’s Thunivu saw a considerable drop on the second day of its release after securing the career-best premieres and a decent first day. The film collected $ 250K from premieres and added $ 166K from its first day. With $ 70K on the second day, the film’s total gross is nearing the half-a-million dollar mark.
Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu is also struggling in USA. The film managed to gross $ 400K by the end of second day. It collected $ 147K from premieres and added another $ 190K from its first day. It managed to grab another $ 62K on the second day.
All these big-ticket films need a solid show during the weekend to end as decent hits in USA.
