US pre sales : Balakrishna takes firm lead over Chiranjeevi

In less than two weeks, Sankranti biggies Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya will lock horns at the box office. While domestic bookings are yet to open, major locations in USA have opened ticket sales well in advance as both films are carrying terrific buzz there.

Traditionally, Chiranjeevi has a bigger market in USA when compared to Balakrishna and it is a proven fact if we take into account the openings of their previous films. Surprisingly, Balakrishna seems to buck the trend as Veera Simha Reddy is well ahead of Waltair Veerayya in USA. As per the current trend of pre-sales, Veera Simha Reddy is racing towards $ 100K and Waltair Veerayya is lagging in the competition. To be precise, Veera Simha Reddy collected close to $ 80K and Waltair Veerayya collected $ 55K.

More than 4000 tickets have been booked by Balakrishna’s fans so far. Chiru fans booked 3000 tickets till now. If this trend continues, Balakrishna is likely to take a firm lead over his arch-rival Chiru for the first time in USA. It may be noted that Akhanda emerged as blockbuster and Achaya tanked heavily in USA.

On the other hand, Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu is well ahead of Ajith’s Thunivu in overseas. Varisu collected close to $ 50K and Thunivu is trailing with $ 23k as of this writing.
