Even three weeks after its release, Kannada film Kantara is refusing to slow down at the USA box office. Despite new releases in Telugu and Tamil, Kantara is dominating all territories with a superb run. What is more surprising for trade circles is that the Telugu version is registering solid haul in the ongoing weekend.
The Telugu version of Kantara is close to a quarter a million mark as of this writing. After a slow start, the collections gained huge momentum on Friday with $ 90 K gross and followed it up with $ 100K ( approx) on Saturday. The phenomenal run is likely to continue as new releases failed to make a noticeable impact. The total gross of this Rishab Shetty directional including all languages has surpassed the $ 1.1 Million mark.
Karthi’s Sardar is showing some promise among the new releases this week. It collected around $ 150K by the end of Saturday. Sivakarthikeya’s Prince grossed $ 120K. Both these films secured below-par reports from premiers shows.
Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 1 has still some steam left even after three weeks. The magnum opus collected a decent $ 25K and $ 30 K on Friday and Saturday respectively. The total gross is close to $ 6.5 M.
Telugu film Ori Devuda, starring Vishwak Sen, collected close to $ 95K in two days. Manchu Vishnu’s Ginna is an epic disaster of all time with less than $ 2K gross in the USA.
