Tollywood BO : Avatar 2 takes a record breaking opening

Hollywood marquee film ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ embarked on a record-breaking start in Telugu States. The James Cameron directional, which is one of the most eagerly awaited English films of the season, created a sensational buzz in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as audiences flocked to theatres in spades on its opening day.

As per trade estimates, the visual spectacle grossed a sensational 13.5 Crores gross on the first day to set a huge record beating the previous benchmarks by a long chalk. In fact, it broke all existing records by more than a double margin. ‘Spiderman No Way Home’ held the opening day record until yesterday with 5.4 crores Gross and ‘Avengers End Game’ was in the second spot with 5 crores gross.

‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ secured a solid opening in Naizam territory with 5.75 Crore gross. In Andhra, the magnitude of the openings is no lesser as it notched up 6 Crore gross on its first day. In Cedeed, the openings are a bit underwhelming with less than 2 Crores gross.

With no Telugu films slated for release this week, Avatar is likely to dominate the box office in the weekend. Trade pundits are expecting a solid run till next Friday.
