Wherever it goes, victory is following RRR. It was a sensational hit in India. It is one of the few films that grossed 1000 crores at the box office. Even in America, the film received a thumping response from the audience. Now, it is having a dream run in Japan too.
RRR was released in Japan on October 21. Upon its release, the film received a sensational response from the local Japanese audience. In a week of its release, RRR earned PY73 million ($495,000) in that country. With this feat, it achieved the highest first-week collections for an Indian film in Japan.
RRR’s Japanese version was released in 209 screens and 31 IMAX screens across 44 cities in Japan. It also claimed the 10th position of the top-10 box office charts this week. The other nine films are local Japanese flicks. According to the trade reports, RRR will enter the profits zone in Japan within 10 days of its release.
Superstar Rajinikanth’s Muthu remains the top-grosser in Japan among Indian films (JPY 400 million). SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion is in the second position (JPY 300 million). We have to see if RRR beats any of these flicks in its lifetime run in Japan.
