Bollywood box office is definitely back in business after consecutive weeks of dormancy due to lack of genuine hits. Akshay Kumar’s Drishyam 2, which released on November 18, and last Friday release Bhediya, starring Varun Dhawan in the lead role, brought huge cheer for trade circles with their solid run in the just concluded weekend.
Drishyam 2 : After a phenomenal first weekend with over 54 Crores net, the suspense thriller continued to impress audiences on weekdays as well. From Monday to Thursday, Drishyam 2 notched up another 40 Crores net to end the first week on a terrific note with an overall tally of 104 Crores. Extending its strong run into the second weekend, Drishyam 2 collected 7.87 Crores on the second Friday. With a phenomenal growth on Saturday and Sunday, Drishyam 2 nabbed 14.05 Crores and 17.32 Crores respectively to end the second weekend on a sensational note as the total net surpassed the 140 Crore mark. Trade experts predict that it will collect over 200 Crore net in its life time.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan’s comedy horror Bhediya also performed decently in the first weekend. After taking a slightly underwhelming start on Friday, Bhediya showed good growth towards the weekend to end on an encouraging 28.55 Crores net in three days. The film collected 7.48 Crores on Friday, 9.57 Crores on Saturday and 11.50 Crores on Sunday.
Despite non holiday period, both Drishyam 2 and Bhediya made the most at the North India box office with good haul in the weekend.
