Avatar: The Way of Water takes pole position in India

Hollywood tentpole film Avatar: The Way of Water emerged as the highest-grossing English film of all time in India on its 24th day of release. The James Cameron directional edged past the lifetime gross of Avengers End Game to take the pole position in the list of top-grossing Hollywood films in India. As of this writing, the sequel to Avatar has punched out 440 Crores gross to take the number one slot. The total net is 360 Crores with a theatrical share of 180 Crores. Avengers End Game collected a gross of 437 Crores in India.
Avatar 2 took the second-best opening in India for a Hollywood film on December 16th with close to 50 Crores gross on its first day. The visual extravaganza had a phenomenal first weekend with over 150 Crores gross including all territories of India. It held well on weekdays and ended the first week on a solid note with 230 Crores gross and also emerged as the fifth highest-grossing film of all time.
The film showed no signs of slowing down as it gained huge momentum on weekends despite the release of regional films. With a sensational second weekend taking advantage of the Christmas holiday, the film surpassed the 300 Crore mark and stood as the third biggest grosser of all time. It then screamed past the 400 Crore mark by the end of the third weekend with a stupendous haul on New Year’s eve. Continuing its steady run, the film is now heading towards the 500 Crore mark in its full run.
