Natural Star Nani is one of the most reliable actors of the second tier as far as trade circles are concerned. Once upon a time, he delivered back to back hits due to which his market got a good push. But, he has now hit a rough patch due to lack of proper hits in recent times.
After scoring a big hit with MCA, Nani couldn’t deliver a profitable venture in his next attempts since then. Though he bagged critical acclaim for his performances, his films didn’t break even. This has badly impacted his market. Meanwhile, his recent films V and Tuck Jagadish were directly released through OTT platforms. His last film Shyam Singha Roy failed at the box office.
All this seems to have taken a big toll on the pre-release business of his latest film Ante Sundaraniki which is set for release this Friday.
Rajamouli – Mahesh film set in Africa backdrop
Ante Sundaraniki did a theatrical business of around 30 Crores which is not to the expected mark for an actor like Nani. The film was sold for 10 Crores in Nizam and 12 Crores in Andhra and Ceeded areas. All remaining territories fetched another 8 Crores which means the film should collect over 30 Crores to be termed a profitable venture.
Ante Sundaraniki promises to be a fun-filled romance. The trailer received a very good response. But the bookings are very low in all territories. The makers are banking on positive reviews from US premiers so that the walk-ins will improve by the end of the day.
It is high time that Nani delivered a decent hit to revive his low-lying career and set right his success graph. The result of this film will define the fate of his next film Dasara.
